Course Description
Aligned with state and national accreditation standards, this course was developed to encompass the most critical aspects and fundamentals necessary to be a competent and productive supervisor through the use of proper leadership skills. Developed for a wide-range of attendees, newly promoted supervisors, future supervisors, experienced supervisors at all ranks and field training officers will gain extensive knowledge of supervision and leadership skills through the instruction of theory, concepts and procedures combined with explanations of practical application and outcomes through experience. Course participants learning will be reinforced through scenario reviews, focused group activities and peer interactions designed to advance critical and analytical thinking skills.
The topics integrated throughout this 5-day course cover leadership skills through understanding and adapting to human behaviors, delegation, communication skills, team building, conflict management, legal responsibilities, ethics, resiliency, supervising difficult employees, acceptance and handling of citizen complaints, public speaking, situational decision-making skills, evaluating the performance of employees, wellness, managing change, supervising critical incidents and mentoring subordinates.
