July 7, 2021 - Posted by Ed Esposito
On July 1, 2021, the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (NJ CSC) announced promotional exams for the following titles: Police Lieutenant and Police Captain. This announcement is welcomed news and comes several weeks after the NJ CSC first began administering promotional exams that were previously postponed because of the pandemic. Over the past several weeks, the NJ CSC has successfully administered exams with some precautionary measures in place.
According to their July 1st announcement, eligible personnel in the below listed jurisdictions who apply will be schedule to take their exam in October. The applications are available on the NJ CSC’s website and must be submitted online by 4:00 p.m. om July 21, 2021. Due to the pandemic, the Police Captain exam will contain an essay component for this cycle rather than a second-part oral exam. The applications for the Police Sergeant exam are expected to be available on October 1, 2021, with that exam tentatively scheduled to be administered in February of 2022.
