Jurisdictions Testing for Police Lieutenant and Captain Announced

The NJ CSC updated their Law Enforcement Status Report today for the month of July and included the list of jurisdictions that will be testing for Police Lieutenant and Police Captain in 2022. According to the report, both written exams are tentatively scheduled to be administered in October and the oral exam for Police Captain is tentatively scheduled for December. Applications for these exams must be filed by 4:00 PM on July 21, 2022. To read the complete report click here.
Upcoming Promotional Examinations Announced
On July 1, 2022, the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (NJ CSC) announced promotional exams for the following titles: Police Lieutenant, Police Captain, Human Services Police Sergeant, Human Services Police Lieutenant, PIP Police Sergeant, PIP Police Lieutenant, State Park Police Sergeant and State Park Police Lieutenant. This announcement is welcomed news for our members and comes several weeks after the NJ CSC began administering the first Entry-Level exams since 2019.
According to their July 1st announcement, eligible personnel in the below listed jurisdictions who apply will be scheduled to take their written exam in October. The applications are available on the NJ CSC’s website and must be submitted online by July 21, 2022. Also, the Police Captain exam will return to its normal format with an oral exam tentatively scheduled for December.
Finally, the NJ CSC’s most recent announcements indicate that the Police Sergeant exam applications are expected to be available on October 1, 2022, with that exam tentatively scheduled to be administered in February of 2023.
